The British Legion Club is probably the largest British Legion club in Scotland with a current membership of almost 3,000. With a comfortable main bar, a function room complete with bar and restaurant, a committee room, office space for officials and the upstairs cocktail bar with stunning views of the river, the club is well-equipped to cater for all its members interests. Very few venues have such a large dance floor or well-kept functions rooms, such as we have here. Members can book the upstairs function room for private parties, functions etc. Details can be had from the office. With an active social calendar, there is live music and dancing every weekend with a special Shownight approximately every three months. Members enjoy the many sporting events run by the club and the sub clubs organised by the committee with bingo, pool, snookers, dominoes, darts, indoor and outdoor bowls, curling and fishing events. The very popular gardening club holds an annual display in the legion clubrooms. The club is also involved in charitable work in the town with substantial donations being made to local charities as well as an Old Folks Night which is attended by over 15 local OAP organisations with the Provost as the guest of honour on that evening. Many other events take place over the year for retired members of the club. The sporting clubs are involved in club, branch, area and national competitions which have resulted in many fine wins for the branch over the years. The club serves lunches during the week and evening meals at weekends in the Urquhart’s Eatery with tables available overlooking the river. And of course, there is the busy main bar a place to catch up with old friends and enjoy a drink in pleasant surroundings. Temporary memberships are available for your visitors from outwith the area.
